Stone Network Residency

(2022)

The Stone Network was an interdisciplinary residency-ritual initiated by Anna Bierler and Marit Mihklepp. This knot of gatherings focused on connecting human and geologic voices, exploring modes of writing and reading as intimate and collective spaces. From March 8–12, 2022, at CLOUD Danslab in The Hague, the project invited artists and researchers to share their practices through intensive learning and interactive sessions.

The residency unfolded over five days, each centered around a guest-led exploration.

On March 9, Greta D. Facchinato’s session revolved around the theme of a stone as a seed, inviting participants to explore the poetic and material intersections between stones and growth. Focusing on avocado seeds—often called "stones" themselves—Facchinato guided participants in creating Stone Blood Ink, a natural ink derived from avocado seeds. This hands-on exploration connected the biological and geological, delving into the metaphorical and tangible aspects of transformation and life cycles.
