Meteorite Dyes

(2023)

Meteorite Dyes explores the convergence of geology, ecology, and natural dye-making, led by Marit Mihklepp in collaboration with Greta Desirèe Facchinato. The project centers on soil and plants foraged at the Kärdla meteorite site in Estonia, collected during Marit’s summer residency at Kordon Residency.

With Greta’s expertise in foraging and natural ink-making, the collaboration extended into the studio, where the duo experimented with the soil and plants creating inks suitable for screenprinting. The resulting inks were used to print photographic and text-based images on paper, transforming the local more-than-human stories of the meteorite site into visual narratives.
