Foraging Color
(2021 - ongoing)
Foraging Color from Nature is a practice rooted in patience, listening, and connection with the land. It invites a deep engagement with the landscape, recognizing and foraging local plants, garden-grown resources, or waste materials to create sustainable colors.
For me, foraging has always been about observation, respect, and reciprocity. From my childhood of collecting stones and berries to reflecting on Robin Wall Kimmerer's words on picking strawberries, it’s a process that connects human life with the more-than-human world.
Foraging is not just a method; it’s a philosophy of interconnection. It has shaped my creative process, where my surroundings guide each piece I create. This practice reminds me of the stories and relationships embedded in the plants I forage, and how embracing ecological and regenerative practices involves respecting and learning from the land and its cycles. By integrating foraged elements into my work and life, I continue to honour these connections.
