The Garden of Colors

(2022 - ongoing)

The Garden of Colors is a community project initiated by Greta Desirèe Facchinato in collaboration with Pluk Den Haag. After leading wild picking and natural ink-making workshops at Pluk in 2021, Greta established this garden as a space for collective gardening and exploring tinctorial plants—species known for centuries for their natural dye properties. The project brings together a group of dedicated stewards, all passionate about regenerative gardening and natural crafts.

Designed by Greta, the garden follows the ecological principles of permaculture and companion planting. It is intended as an experimental space where volunteers and visitors can learn, try new techniques, and cultivate a deeper understanding of sustainable gardening practices.

As part of the broader ecosystem of Pluk Den Haag's edible garden, the Garden of Colors thrives within a space where plants are grown using biological and ecological methods. The garden prioritizes native and local species, with plants sourced from biological nurseries in the Netherlands. Practices like no-dig soil management, responsible foraging, and mulching with local materials help support the garden's regenerative approach.

The Garden of Colors flourishes thanks to the care and collaboration of its dedicated stewards, ensuring the growth of this living experiment.
