The Garden of Colors
This project explores care, maintenance, and ecosystems through collective stewardship. Rooted in the principles of circular communities, it fostered meaningful interactions between people, plants, insects, pollinators, and other forms of more-than-human life, with a focus on biodiversity and regenerative practices.
Designed as a living archive, the project highlighted tinctorial plants—species historically valued for their color properties, including forgotten and native dye plants. Following ecological principles such as permaculture, no-dig soil management, companion planting, and organic mulching, the garden flourished without pesticides, sourcing all plants from biological nurseries. Through collective decision-making, volunteers engaged in shared care and ecological thinking, addressing challenges with sustainability and reciprocity at the core.
The Garden of Colors is thought out as a space for learning, experimentation, and reimagining communities and relationships with the land through regenerative gardening and natural color.
