The Ink Project - Archive
An open-source online publication available until November 2024, sharing discoveries, critical reflections, and ink formulations made from plants, algae, and fungi during the project. Designed as a living library, the website documented an experimental research process exploring the crossover between printing technologies and the tradition of making inks from organic materials.
A vital part of the archive was acknowledging the identity and agency of the plants and microorganisms used to create bio-based inks, reframing them as living colors rather than inanimate substances. Greta carefully selected species and materials to develop a range of inks within the CMYK spectrum, prioritizing local, seasonal plants and collaborating with circular companies pioneering work with algae and fungi.
The archive functioned as a resource for rethinking ink-making in relation to ecology, craftsmanship, and contemporary printing. By bridging historical knowledge with digital advancements, The Ink Project – Archive aimed to foster awareness of sustainable alternatives and contribute to circular solutions in printmaking.
