Join artist and designer Greta Facchinato in an experimental workshop to learn how to forage and extract color from plants to make sustainable ink. This workshop intends to guide each participant in shifting awareness to recognize how to forage color in our landscape, create an interconnection with the surroundings and re-learn our relationship with colors as living matter, by becoming aware of the seasons and learning to work with them, with patience and awareness.

Which activities do the workshop consist of:

We will explore the basics of natural ink-making. The lesson will consist of an introduction to water-based inks. We will work with a seasonal plant by foraging it in The Garden of Colors, a collective initiative at Pluk Den Haag for growing tinctorial plants. We will discuss processing hues with pH modifiers and make a natural ink recipe collectively. Topics about light and color fastness, the longevity of natural color as well as proper storage for the ink will also be covered.

Details

  • When: Saturday 20th July - from 10.00 to 13.00

  • Minimum 5 participants, 10 participants max.;

  • Where: Pluk Den Haag, Loosduinse Hoofdstraat 1184A, 2552AV Den Haag; 

  • No experience necessary;

  • Time: 3h (including a 20-minute break)

  • Materials are provided;

  • Participants may bring: an apron will come in handy to keep clothes clean (or wear appropriate clothing); a sketchbook/notebook;

  • Everyone takes home one bottle of handmade ink;

  • Language: English;

  • Price: 80€ - Early bird tickets: 65€ (for a limited time only)

Cancellation policy

The following terms and conditions apply to bookings for workshops and gift vouchers:

  • There is no refund for cancellations or no-shows. If you are unable to attend a workshop you can find an alternate participant to attend in your place. Please communicate this to the organizer via hello@gretafacchinato.com

  • In case the organizer is unwell, the workshop will be rescheduled within 1 to 3 months. 

  • Gift vouchers have a validity of 3 months. There is no refund for unused gift vouchers.

Payment options
The webshop offers payments via Stripe or PayPal. If you would like to pay with an alternative option to purchase an item or attend a workshop you can email hello@gretafacchinato and request payment via invoice.
